Friends Passing Through Town
A and I have had the great fortune of welcoming several friends to town of late. Here’re a few pics:
Paul and Chika came all way from New York City for a mere four-day visit. But they packed a lot of sightseeing into their sojourn, and even overcame their jet lag in record time. They are hardcore.
Shortly thereafter, Steve — aka Mammoth — and Crystal passed through Bangkok on their way to the beach. We’ve been friends since I lived in Taiwan three years ago.
Then Hayes and Carlie were in town from Beijing for a conference. Hayes is an OSFoFaB (Old School Friend of the Family and Beaufortonian — he’s a longtime pal of my brother Mechum and I and he’s from our home town of Beaufort, SC).
And finally, Pippa was in town last week from neighboring Myanmar. Pippa is a pal from way back in 2003, when we lived and taught in Cuenca, Ecuador. (Here’s a pic of us riding in the back of a truck together back in the day.)
